It's a sad state of affairs when a multi-hundred thousand dollar motorhome, in this case a 2006 Excursion comes with a manual that does not match the product. The 3 things I really needed and looked up are NOT in it or they are incorrect. To join this Assoc. I was going to put in the MH Serial No. And the manual said it's in the back end where the engine is located.

Can someone give me an idea where to look to find the Fleetwood serial number for my coach? I have no clue. I have the VIN but have a blank when it comes to the serial number. A Fleetwood RV’s UIN is located below the driver window’s left side of our A Class coaches, and behind the driver’s door of our Class Cs. The UIN number will be 12-digits.

It is the FIN no. Which I think they refer to as the 'serial number'. I found it this morning inside a kitchen cabinet listed on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper with VEHICLE WEIGHTS at the top, and I looked to see what all it said and listed near the top was 'fin' and the number. I had been looking for a metal plate or something like that! There is nothing in the closet or the rear engine compartment or near the driver's seat. It has a Freightliner chassis. Now the steps won't come out but every once in a while.

You will also have a serial number for the engine. Mine is a sticker on the oil pan. The sticker in the rear closet should give other info like paint codes for you coach. When contacting your chassis builder, coach and engine builder, the last 6 numbers of your VIN will get you alot of info, such as part numbers and so on. As far as the steps, we have a cluster of rocker switches just as you start up the steps on the right.

What chassis and engine do you have? Thanks James, that is useful information. We have the VIN number on some paperwork so I didn't look for it on the MH today. I saw the info in the closet with the paint codes etc. I noticed the Steps switch before and didn't know what it did but it didn't put the steps out when they wouldn't go out so I wondered about it. I have used it today to keep the steps out when parked so that is nice! It has a Freightliner chassis and a Cat 350 engine.

Another question: I was reading the guide for the stove and it said to shut off the propane to the unit when not traveling and I wondered it if meant to the whole motorhome of if there is a shut-off just for the stove. Should it be shut off to the MH anyway when not traveling?
