Same as me, i own both the original copy of back to war and the retail anthology. I was able to load both up but could not see my mouse move, i could guess and click on the tabs and enter the editor but still no mouse.
A friend who has windows 8.1 said his steam version worked fine. I took the gamble yesterday bought it and it works fine for me. I've played 9 hours no issues so far. Apparently the steam version has been modified for newer systems. Although i do have to run the steam version in admin mode or i crash when i change any in game settings.
But running in admin mode solved that issue right away.
